is Controller asking the pilot to "Line Up" his plane(thus square off)...

  to his(pilot's) approach runway??????????????????

A lot of those requests today at the "JFK"...

Five years ago.............Jan 30, 2007......I was an N/C Operator(Computerized lathe's)...........at that time 26 years..........

While setting up for a job on a vertical milling machine.................I was tightening down a tool holder.........with a big Ass "chetah pipe".....

 (and I Always said to myself....when using it............"It gonna slip one day and I am going to bust my Ass Good).........!!!

I heard the  pop of the chetah pipe slip.........and I was on the floor...and broke my fall...with my right arm....

.

jumped up.........no problem.........

trying to shake off the embarassment of the fall........

I then felt a warm rush down my arm..............picked it up(my arm)

.....and as you can see, the first picture.............the Lovely "S"........shape of my very 'broken' wrist 

............That Baby was snapped!!!!!!..

So had surgery..........second/third pic..........a 'Titanium' plate and screws... that was inserted.........

Well no more "Machining".........for me.............after 26 years.....working in the Machine Shop.............12 hours a day....busting Ass......!!!!!

I took a position in the front office.............

where I 've been in the accounting department....ever since..........

(thats a whole other story)....

the "Kicker".........................

I could run  hundred thousand dollar machining  lathe's............My first day.....front office............I DID NOT HAVE A CLUE ON HOW TO TURN ON A $10.00 ELECTRIC CALCULATOR ON..!!!!

So don't everybody cry at once..........:)))).....my wrist is fine.........now....but what an experience..........

Accident occurred Monday, June 25, 2007 in Tehachapi, CA
Aircraft: McDonnell Douglas DC 10-10, registration: N450AX
Injuries: 3 Uninjured.

This is preliminary information, subject to change, and may contain errors. Any errors in this report will be corrected when the final report has been completed.

On June 25, 2007, about 1720 Pacific daylight time, a McDonnell Douglas DC 10-10, N450AX (Tanker 910), impacted trees with the left wing during a fire suppression flight in support of the White Fire about 12 miles southwest of Tehachapi, California. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention (Cal Fire) was operating the airplane as a public use flight under the provisions of 14 CFR Part 91. The captain, first officer, and flight engineer, were not injured. The airplane sustained substantial damage. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and flight tracking procedures were in effect. The airplane departed Southern California Logistics Airport, Victorville, California, at 1657.

According to Cal Fire personnel, the flight crew was on their third flight of the day and preparing to jettison a load of retardant. While in a left turn from base to final for the drop, the left wing dropped downward and impacted several trees. The captain recovered the airplane and climbed to 11,000 feet mean sea level (msl) for a controllability check. The crew declared an emergency and returned to the departure airport at 1748, where they landed uneventfully.

Cursory examination of the airplane revealed damage to the left wing leading edge, and to control surfaces which included the outboard aileron.

November 2000 marked the 30th anniversary of the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. As of October 2001, only a little over 50 TriStars remained active. A growing number of first-generation widebodies, facing their twilight of their era, are being retired. All are initially flown to storage facilities, often in the desert, where the climate and conditions are suitable for airliners to be left inactive for a long period. A number of storage facilities are located in southwestern US, including Marana and Mojave, which have been doing this business for decades. Other facilities include Amarillo, Kingman, Roswell, Tucson, and the recently-popular Victorville. Airliners once stored all wait for their next assignment. Those that are snatched up by airlines that cannot afford to acquire new aircraft are fortunate, because all others that do not get the treatment are eventually reduced to scrap.
