American Airlines Files for Bankruptcy
American Airlines parent AMR Corp. So the cycle is now complete, as American joins every other major airline out there in filing for bankruptcy. It's just further proof that the old way of doing things no longer works.
Things have to change, and as the industry moves forward I believe we're entering an exciting time for aviation. Yes, airlines have legitimate challenges ahead with rising fuel costs, the cost of new airplanes, and the costs of labour and pensions. But the demand for flights keeps growing, and new fuel-efficient planes and computer technologies will help reduce the cost of doing business.
This rough patch won't last forever. Someone hit the reset button, and the whole thing is in the process of resetting itself.
I really believe we're coming into a new golden age in aviation. It's pretty exciting.
Yes Ritchie.......I agree about a resurgence in the Airline Industry....
It'll never be like it was...maybe good, maybe not....

The LoCo's are doing that already... allegedly.
current voting on FlightGlobal News q. of the Week -
AA in Ch.11
Business as usual - 47 - 38% (ish)
Bold step forward - 19 - 15%
Too easy... - 52% - 42%
Doomed!! - 6 - 5%
Those %'s even add up to 100!!
As to the CEO, CFO, and all getting "theirs", - can't comment on AA as I might get in Trubb'll - former bosses at Airbus in France are still, I believe, being investigated for allegedly off-loading stock options just before shares went south when build issues on the first A380's came to light. As always it will be the junior aircrew's, flight attendants, ground staff, mechs, et al, who will get all the pain and none of the pay-out... gone for a drink! ;))
AA in Ch.11 (QUESTION)
WAY TOO EASY!!!!!!!!!!!....99.9 %
!!!!!!!!!!!!..ROUNDED UP...100%...
AND REALLY....PROBABLY...JUST A MATTER OF MOVING NUMBERS ON FINANCIAL STATEMENTS.......!!!!!!
AND THE "OFF LOADING" STOCK........GIVE YA 3 GUESSES AND THE FIRST 2 DON'T COUNT.........;)
GOING HAVE A DRINK........WITHOUT ME........!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT THE HELL THIS WORLD COMING TO...............I GOT THE PHONE # OF A GREAT 'BAILBONDS MAN'...LOL
HAVE A GOOD ONE FOGGY........
