Carlton! Good to hear from you again! :)
Yes, it was not an easy landing for the EasyJet crew or the aircraft.
I have been following - quietly ; )
It was nice to be safe on the ground after that rough approach, I normally like turbulence - but not too close to the ground!!!
Hello Guilia and everyone else from the Capt Doug team ; )
Carlton.......following quietly.......is great.......I love the 'silent treatment'..Kidding with ya.......
:))
Turbulence......can rock ya to sleep.........like a baby......then....oops......
if there are crosswinds.........there must be wind shear.....too,even with the doppler...for warning....... I would think......??SCARY..!!!
How funny those jets.......those pilots........showing such Skill........
then once on the ground......just a "Shaking their Tales"..with satisfaction to the terminal........lol
Take care Carlton!!!
hey there ~G~......I know so lovely of Carlton.......to visit....
Just saw this vid--WILD!!
That Condor (2nd or 3rd landing) was wild--not sure why, but he seemed to not put ANY rudder in…
Crosswind landing technique is to "crab" into the wind (sorta "sideways" like you saw them doing) then simultaneously turn into the wind and kick the rudder to align with the runway for touchdown. I usually do it 50-100 feet up so I know I have enough rudder to actually land! But all these planes seemed to do it at the last second, probably b/c it feels weird to passengers, as they feel like they're falling out of the plane!
For takeoff, you do the reverse. What gets me is NONE of the takeoffs seemed to use the technique--they just slid sideways as they rotated!
