FIRST UP: Avid Cap'n Aux blog reader Brian B., a PHX TRACON Air Traffic Controller, has secured official permission from his employer (Yes, the FAA!) to jumpseat with Cap'n Aux on today's flights!

This is the FIRST time a blog reader has ever been able to fly with Cap'n Aux—

From this historic event, I am planning on writing TWO Part blog series about it: 1.) His Jumpseat experience, and 2.) My experience touring his PHX ATC facility!

Color and black and white photographs released by NASA today show the Earth and moon as seen from Saturn 900 million miles away.

 In the Cassini images Earth and the moon appear as dots -- Earth a pale blue and the moon a stark white, visible between Saturn's rings. 
It was the first time Cassini's highest-resolution camera captured Earth and its moon as two distinct objects.

The pictures were taken on July 19, 2013, and NASA had asked people on Earth to step outside, look toward Saturn, smile and wave at the appointed time.
 "We can't see individual continents or people in this portrait of Earth, but this pale blue dot is a succinct summary of who we were on July 19," said Linda Spilker, Cassini project scientist, at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. 

"Cassini's picture reminds us how tiny our home planet is in the vastness of space, and also testifies to the ingenuity of the citizens of this tiny planet to send a robotic spacecraft so far away from home to study Saturn and take a look-back photo of Earth."

Please see 'post' below of the last ATC Exchanges between JFK Tower......and several pilots that were in the vicinity of the explosion........I put this recording.....not to glorify, ......but because after several attempts by JFK Tower, to... contact TWA 800.........a pilot is recorded saying, he thinks the explosion he witnessed....was TWA 800........and the last words he says...on this recording........is "GOD BLESS THEM".......its was through his eyes the victims died....that breaks my heart.............my wish for the 212 SOB and 18 crew members is to have found 'peace'......but there will be no 'Resting in peace'......♠ Really all I can say about this......

Check out our Cappy's flight yesterday.......flying PHL to DFW......flight 559....coming in to Dallas the WX......was terrible storms everywhere as you can see in this first pic.....so he was put in a 'Holding pattern'.......as you can see in the second pic'ie.......he was going in circles.....I've never seen anything like this..........sure it happens frequently ...but a first for me........to see the 'loopdiloop' for real.........he was looping either because of "Bad"...storms or he's in "Bad" trouble ....and afraid to land..............Ha Ha..

Once again I was able to film some crosswind landings at Düsseldorf. This video isn` t as good as my previous crosswind landing videos but I decided to show you these amazing piloting skills. There was no storm this time, it was "just" a windy day and as you can see these pilots had to fight with wind speeds up to 30 knots. Especially both A330s of Turkish Airlines and Air China left a mark on the runway which can be seen during the entire video. Three weeks later when I came back to this position to film a Boeing 747 it was very easy for me to identify the Air China and TK A330 marks on the runway. It is truly been a rough and sad year for Aviation...too many crashes.....especially at 'air shows'.......but really 1 is too many......there is certainly enough 'heart ache' to go around.....with the 19 firemen killed  week or so ago....we remember the high number of death tolls....but I am also sad about...any...loss of life....its such a gift to be able to breath in and out.....and think of your blessings........and not the negative....the best gift we can give to one another as well, is to be there for others.......when they can't go it alone.......I know from Experience lately......and I can't Thank my friends..and family ...for helping me through with out a doubt the ''darkest'....time of my life........the last couple of months.......well you might think....what the hell do you have to complain about....your life looks peachy from here.........trust me...if you only knew.......and another thing....is to recognize as well.......that there are people who have so much worse.........Our 'Hearts' go out to the families of the plane crash.....all of them...I'm putting 2 links........with video.....not to glorify it, but to feel or just begin to know by watching.....that we have to be there......for those families even if its......just a quiet prayer no one will hear...I believe those quiet prayers will make their way to those who are in pain....with their unbearable loss........♥
