^J^ - Bas... I've been following the RAFAT - Red Arrows - news throughout the afternoon/evening. Another very telling time for the team. UK Defence Ministry have not yet released the name of the pilot, though some newspaper websites have identified him. It will be a potentially very difficult investigation because the circumstances should not "line-up" in the way they did. I used to work on a very similar Ejection Seat system and what happened today "looks" impossible.

My thoughts are with the family, the team and all those at CFS Scampton.

B744 landing? They're built to take one or three like that.

Blue skies... Foggy

The German TWA ad says 'TWA folks make fun, wherever you go'... that must've been true......and those same folks( I include myself)...STILL TODAY....DESPITE........

Bas...do you know German????...and of course TWA folks...."make fun"....no matter where..YES YES....
I like that you translated...

Foggy...the RED ARROWS news....yes the family, my heart as well, goes out ....interesting your view on how this terrible accident may have happened.....with your past experience....

I Knew Bas would translate this ad!
Dutch and German are too similar(from the West Germanic language family). am i correct Bas?
Can Dutch people directly understand German?

And that Iststatus picture. I can't believe they are busier than me!:)

Not a lot of traffic on the NE side of "the Gulf"... I wonder why? / Foggy

Great cookies GJ! Here's your crumbs......

That site is brilliant! Just checked it at work where I have a very slooooooow connection so the audio took a moment to kick in. Seems very similar format to:

Flightradar24

This is a site I use in the UK which is free unlike casperflights that I think you have to pay for? I also have a pared down version on my phone - I just point it at the sky and it tells me what I'm looking at - amazing! I am based near Portsmouth at the foot of the UK so we get a wide variety of holiday and trans-Atlantic flights at varying altitudes.

That 747 landing? I remember Capt. D mentioning how hard it is to complete the requisite number of landings when on long haul - do you see them wings waggle, wow!

Thanks for your input re: the Red Arrows Foggy, I thought it would be your forte - look forward to more as the facts come out (perhaps wrong phrase but you know what I mean) and yes, thoughts with the family both personal and RAF....

All the best!

Dave from the UK :)

(Note avatar - that's me flying a 737 in a proper sim last weekend!! How excited was I!)

Hey Foggy.....I posted a web link....more of a discussion forum....about the "Red Arrow" crash.......this thread has some inbedded links to various news or updates....

course like some threads.....can be alot of hearsay...and untruths...but as with you...some who are familiar with the ejection systems have commented as well!!!!

could you add more, from your experience now??????

with regard to the picture of Jet traffic..Gulf of Oman.....

I know, I noticed, as well..., how all the jet traffic in the Gulf of Oman....were hugging the North Western coast???????.......perhaps maybe many....
(in a different world).....

would have been flying the North Eastern side too....?????????...thus splitting traffic between both coasts...(opinion)
...Thank you for the Blue Skies.....lately I'm partial to Red Skies late in the evening.....:))))))))

Metin...were you working last night.....??????
It was very busy it seems.......:))))))))))

I have questions about language differences....guess can ask later....BUT.....
for instance....,
when I listen to Istanbul ATC....I hear the accent....and I have to take a moment more to understand....

Is it the same...for you ...when you hear an American speaking English...does it take you a moment more to understand,

as opposed to listening to the English language spoken with the turkish accent....??????

Well if I haven't totally confused you......by now.....I can't even type without an accent(yea called dumbass)....lol...ha ha....
I think I screwed up that question......LOL

but I'm curious enough to take a chance and ask anyway.....

miss(curious)twa

Dave W.....that is one of the Biggest smiles I've ever seen...on your Avatar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...esspecially doing what you Love......you were Simming...at the Gatwick...right????

Yes the "Iststatus"....is Awesome......!!!! Yes...there was a bit of delay more with the audio....I hit 'refresh'...and usually it kicks in quick......

now with the CasperFlightracker....if you pay....you get real time....

if you don't pay...there's a 15 minute delay.....

Iststatus...seems to be close to real time.......
Dave...
Have you ever check out the "Live Runway Cams" at LAX?????...
I think a few minute's delay there......but the Runway Cams and the ATC....are in sync.....

YOU SURE DO LEAVE A LOT OF CRUMBS...DAVE ...LOL......I LOVE A MESSY HOUSE:))))))) PLEASE STAY AWHILE.....

^J^ - I've had a (very brief) look at the forum link you posted above. What could I say? LOFCSB!! Decode not available on a public site!! What I can say now is this: There was an accident and a pilot died - but, I have a couple of thoughts but they are dependent on what phase of flight the accident occurred, i.e., parked at start-up pre-flight, or parked at shut-down post-flight. Also, did the incident occur at the position shown in the various available images, or elsewhere on a taxyway or other AMA? The way the cones and tape are laid out, and later images of the cockpit area covered by a tarp lead to a conclusion that that is where the incident occurred! Health warning for other readers/lurkers: that is a supposition, not a FACT!

^J^ - I have some other info; I'll e-mail you later today / Foggy

getjets said...

As with the PPRN...forum....yes...a lot of specualation...and bicker....

I find when you read comments as they move along...even a "lay" person as myself...can get a feel for the incident....and filter out......stupidity....at least to some extent.....
Please do e-mail me with additional info.....
As with many of the jet crashes...in the recent past...I will google airport...read the story of said accident...and with a bit of a learning curve...see, perhaps, how events unfolded.... for myself.....
My love for Aviation...well, includes all aspects...good and bad.....

your right Foggy.....

Thanks, Foggy, for the "extra" you provided... :)

And, Jules...how was the Wednesday celebration?

Aren't you excited for your trip coming up??? :))))

about the accent
No i wasn't working last night, but yes, here in Turkey, we have a strong Turkish accent!:)
when a Turkish man speaks English, you can recognize him from one kilometers away:),me too.

I'm familiar with the American and British accents. But for me, it's always easier to understand non-native English speakers.(except French and Korean accents:) ) Clearly, slowly, one-by-one:)

Hey ~g~...howyou???...yes we indulged with our weekly "hump day"...'small' fish bowl margarita's....
I had 2 of those monsters......had my hands at the 10 and 2 position Firmly.....LOL

Yes, looking forward to me and hubby's trip to the Smokies next week......
gonna fly Delta to Atlanta....I get to jetspot(for a few hours from there)....planned that on purpose...

course I don't even know if there's even a designated place there, to Jetspot....but, as hard up, as I am to just see some big boy Jets........, will be good enough for me!!!!!!:))))

then fly into Knoxville Tennesse...later that day...I'm just as excited about getting to see jets bigger than 737's for the most part in New Orleans...

Hope all is well with you....so glad when you stop by.....

Jules

getjets said...

Yes...Metin....Thats exactly what I was wondering....!!!!!

say for instance, your were talking to me....it would take an extra moment to understand me....and I would be taking my own extra time...listening to you.....
I find that so Interesting....since I've been listening to Iststatus.....I'm getting better....

This isn't news..of course, ..But was just curious to hear from your perspective...

Thanks for taking time to explain....:)))))))))))))

Hey!

Nice picture Dave, glad you had the time to take your hands off the controls and have a photo taken :P

@Foggy, the folks that are discussing in the link Julie posted are talking about ejection seat pins and some incidents...by the way they are telling it, it's like working on a timebomb that might go off if you snap the wrong color of wire.

@Metin, I can understand some basic German but it's not very similair to Dutch at all. You have to develop a certain bit of word sensitivity plus we are being taught German at school but no fluent reading/speaking after that haha. It looks a bit like Dutch from time to time but it's definitely different!

That 747 landing, it was on Airliners.net a couple of days ago. The person who posted it said that if the Chief Pilot might see this the pilot in command might be sent on some extra training. Then someone else jumped in and said 'Knowing Chief Pilot's this might've been one coming in for landing himself'. LOL

Take care everyone / Auf wieder sehen,

Bas

Bas - Seat Pins... I'll get back to you. Like everything, there's the right way and the wrong way, but if you follow the procedure you will "not get bitten"... most times!
