"Still haven't found your
"Man in the Moon"???????????

Below is a Beautiful Picture.............
The October full moon known as "Hunter’s Moon" created on October 11, 2011.  In this years image the Hunter’s Moon is nestled in the leaves and branches of a lightning struck oak tree.  This Moment in time was captured by Todd Edson......A Proffessional Artist.....
who's body of work can be found.....at the web link below his Picture....here..♦
and I would also like to publicy apologize to Mr. Edson.........
I posted His"Hunter's Moon".......picture, here  without giving him Proper "Credits"....

You have a better chance to find him tonight........
A "Super Moon"  will light up Saturday's night sky in a once-a-year cosmic show,
overshadowing a meteor shower from remnants of Halley's Comet, the U.S.

The Moon will seem especially big and bright since it will reach its closest spot to Earth at the same time it is in its full phase, NASA said.
The Moon "is a 'super Moon,' as much as 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than other full Moons of 2012," it said in a statement.
The scientific term for the phenomenon is "perigee moon." The Moon follows an elliptical path around Earth with one side, or perigee, about 31,000 miles closer than the other, or apogee.
The Moon will reach perigee at 11:34 p.m. EDT (0334 GMT on Sunday). One minute later, it will line up with the Earth and the Sun to become full.
The last perigee Moon was on March 19, 2011, when it was about 250 miles closer than Saturday's.
A perigee full Moon can bring tides that are higher than normal but only by an inch or so (a few centimeters). The effect can be amplified by local geography, but only by about six inches.
The light from the perigee Moon will wash out all but the brightest fireballs from the springtime Eta Aquarid meteor shower. From 40 to 60 meteors from the shower normally can be seen each hour.
The Eta Aquarid meteors make up the debris trail of Halley's Comet, which passes by Earth every 76 years

I love those crosswind landings - lightning quick reactions needed and trying to land 20 tons of metal looking out the side window...

I love the artwork on the vintage ads, Jules. It was all very romantic and glamourous, wasn't it?

I think we need a little more of that in life.

Thanks for sharing.

I am so glad you like the old vintage Airline Ads.....the ads were works of art in themselves......
a time when you didn't have to worry the "PC Police"
would be on your Ass....making sure that everything is painted with the same......
"Dull" Paintbrush!!!!!

It was such a Special....priviledge to fly back then.....!!!!
now you can run accross just about any..sort of ...'characters'... at the airport......

I will always be showing these old Advert's....and try hard as hell to bring that "MAGIC".... back...to Aviation....and if I could.....I would bring my beloved.....TWA Airline's back......as well!!!!!

Please come back sometime....Ryan!!!!!!!!!!

Please come back...and visit..anytime.....!!!!

Seen the video, amazing! Looks like it's speed up but in fact it isn't! Wouldn't it be great to battle with the winds during landing!? Captain Dave did a great report blogpost on a crosswind landing, challenging but it sounds like hard and fun work. From time to time I guess :)

Nice adverts once again, like I said before it's a shame they don't make 'm that cool anymore. Today everything is at least listed with a price already since that's what the traveling public cares about.

Have a nice weekend!

Bas

You know, I love those vintage ads Julie. That S7 Airlines was quite different..The top point of addiction: kissing an airplane:)

And Hi! to all friends..

Dave W said...

Hi Metin!!

I can see Jules trying to replicate that kissing pic next time she is in close proximity to a plane - watch this space!! LOL!

I love the vintage ads - it's so funny to think that the L-1011 ad is selling the virtues of its hi-tech cutting edge technology and now as we speak many of those very aircraft are sat rusting in the desert....

GG - love the avatar - very Warhol-esk...

Metin, we need your help - Foggy is being mean and posting some really difficult tails... go have a look if you have time..

All the best!

I don't know about "X-wind" landings... I'd have my legs crossed for some of those!

And some cracking ads also, ^J^. Will be "borrowing" at one of them - especially topical at the moment!! I'm wondering about the last one, though... Is the lady saying, "I'm sure I ordered the beef!"?????? Or is the thinking, 'Don't you dare.....' I'll leave to you to complete!! LOL

~G~ mixing and matching the avatars again... I still haven't found a suitable replacement for my current one (or two?)

Metin, you do realise the reason the "S7" cabin crew is kissing the airplane? The pilot managed to land without crashing it!! And don't take any notice of Dave... he's just griping because he could not get the latest "tail" without a clue!!!

Have a good weekend folks...

getjets said...

Thank You Missy G....and I hope you have a great weekend too!!!!!!!
and like your avatar.......
I will be looking for my SuperMoon tonite as well.........

getjets said...

HA HA .....Metin so true......You know your Addicted to Aviation.......

I will "kiss" that plane in a second.......!!!!!

yes you should go see......how "MEAN"...both Foggy and Dave have been to ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....with guessing "Tails"...
LOL......been some Damn hard ones.......!!!
Miss you there on the forum!!!!
and always so glad when you come visit here.....!!!!!!

Ughhhhhhhhh....

Do something useful.....let me up on your shoulders..........I want to Kiss a Plane!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm Shameless!!!!!!!

the London Ad??

I hope your weekend is going good!!!!!

:((

Hi ^J^ - The last ad; with the baby!!

No "supermoon" in my part of the UK yesterday... too much cloud :((

Bas said...

No supermoon here either! I was hoping for clear skies during the liberation festival yesterday so thousands of people could actually see it but no luck :(

Festival was great though, heh :)

Nice picture you got there, what an epic sight! About a month ago I was cycling to the city with a friend of mine when he suddenly yelled whow look at that! It was the moon very low on the horizon glowing orange. I've never seen that before, but what a nice view! We actually stared at it for some time lol! Obviously happens more times a year but I never noticed xD.

Have a great week!

Crazy vids--esp. of that kid! He's gonna be a star!! As for the crosswinds...a good pilot never gets into a situation where he has to use his superior skills to get out of, lol! That being said: 1st guy shoulda gone around, 2nd guy did the right thing, the 3rd...well, did a good job!

Cappy always straightens the tail a few hundred feet early to make sure he can properly track the runway with enough rudder...otherwise, it's alternate time!

Had clear skies and lovely FULL moon this week! I was partying down at a cantina for "Cinco de Mayo" (which is another excuse for a party out in AZ) so I missed the moonrise, but dayang that thing was big n bright!!
