Hey! (typing this with the window open while some Canadian Geese are being louder than the general aviation planes that fly over here)

Phew, what a week! While working hard on my portfolio, I got to do a lot of fun stuff...still high on Aviadrenalin hahaha.

Oh when I was about to enter the museum it was mayham. Germans everywhere, I immediatly recognized because well...they're our neighbors and I can speak and understand some of it. Upon entering the musuem I asked one of the officials with bagpipes in his hand what was going on...he wouldn't tell me. Oh well...I decided to just go and see the exhibition. When this nice lady opened the door for me I asked her what was going on and then she mentioned that the German President was coming in 20 minutes. I went back and sat down, watching this impressive show. Precisely at 1630 (Germans are always on time! :P) a parade of police bikes drove up with a couple of armored SUV's aaaand the president. He was shaking hands outside and upon entering the building he waved to a couple of bystanders and me. I was allowed to get pretty close as you can see...one bodyguard had a heart-attack when I kept my left hand in my left pocket (I was just relaxing) so I had a little chat with this big guy :P

The museum itself was awesome though, impressive. The collection of vehicles was closed because of Mr. Gauck visiting but when I got there he was long gone. One of the most impressive things is Hitler's car...really weird to stand besides it. I've seen once again why The Netherlands and Canada have such a strong bond...realizing that my freedom in this world is very, very special.

But it was time to get to bed early because the next day I would be buzzed with grade 2 kids...and that was FUN! The kids are lovely and we learned some Dutch words together... Nonetheless I was a very interesting person of course.

Ladies and Gents, you're looking at their 'Favorite Dutch Person'! I mean, isn't that an honor! Learned a lot that day, and so did the kids!

Weekend at the airport it was....FLY DAY. Breath-taking. seriously. We flew in a Cessna 172 and the view can only be described with one word...EPIC! (hehehehehe)

The weather was perfect, our pilot was cool and we had an awesome flight over Ottawa, looking at its fall colors settling, downtown and I even recognized Giulia's school from above, looking at the playground we were on a day before. I managed to find where 'my house' was LOL.

Turning onto the Ottawa River was amazing, an experience to never forget. I hope those smiles say a million words!

'Twas a gooooood week. I am a very fortunate person. Julie, can't wait to have you come over here as well! :D

Hi everyone!

I loved the photos, Julie! Just to correct, Bas saw the German President at the National War Museum...not aviation. :)

Bas seems to be at the right place, doesn't he?

School was fun. The kids were disappointed to see just me today. They want Bassie back! Their favourite Dutchie. <3

And Fly Day? OMG...as usual, it was incredible! All for a good cause. I need a pair of aviator glasses, right, Bas? Oh and you need epaulettes with 8 bars on them...maybe 12! Inside joke, guys.

There were some 1 stripers helping out at the event--marshalling the planes. They were sooooo slick. Dressed better than the actual pilots themselves! LOL. Good laughs.

Can't wait to have you visit JULES!!!!!!!

Oct 31st can't come soon enough! xoxoxoxox

I really do love my little aviation community! xox

Talk soon,
Giulia

Found your pics on my KODAK - wished
I was there!!!

It's nice to see your NEW classroom &
students. A sunny day, here in Halifax,
seems a bit sunnier since I know that
you're enjoying GRADE 2, now... :)

Your 7 years olds may end up thinking
that all Dutch are tall & handsome!

Bas:)

Portfolio - based on your Canadian
experiences? :) VERY intriguing.
Sounds almost like SOCIAL
ANTHROPOLOGY. :)

P.S.

Eigenlijk, Bas , Heb ik melk
drinken - veel het ! :))))

Daniel, I'm not sure where you got that translator but I think it's time to fire him LOL. But I see it didn't work, the milk...Maybe it's the Dutch milk that does the trick!? =P

Oooh no selfies nope, I was close though...did think about it! He was too occupied by these guys showing a floorplan.
Hahahaha, not even! Are you still hiding it somewhere Giulia? Since things have switched to digiboards now :P

And we're even luckier now that the second runway at YOW has been re-opened. Planes buzzing over/near our places :) :)
